01 — THE KANGYUR
Select a topic to learn how the canon shapes our foundation's work.
The Kangyur (བཀའ་འགྱུར་) is the collection of scriptures containing the Buddha's teachings as translated into Tibetan — primarily from Sanskrit and other Indic languages over many centuries.
It comprises 108 volumes organized into Vinaya (monastic discipline), Sutras (discourses), and Tantras (esoteric teachings), forming the textual foundation for study and practice across Tibetan Buddhist schools.
We support efforts to protect rare volumes, improve storage conditions, and document texts for future generations. Our library expansion project includes climate-controlled shelving and cataloguing.
Practitioners, students, and researchers can access resources by appointment. We host study circles that read and discuss selected Kangyur texts with commentary.
Bi-weekly Dharma study sessions are open to all levels — contact us for the current reading schedule.
The Kangyur is not a museum piece but a living tradition. Through retreats, transmissions, and community practice, we help ensure these teachings remain vibrant in contemporary life.
